"Two eccentric individuals changed ‘Old School’ manners of Danish society"

Simon Spies and Mogens Glistrup were two Danish radicals. Radical in their pursuit and exercise of freedom – be it money, drugs or sex. Maybe the best thing to come out of Scandinavia during the hippie years was, in fact, their friendship. It was a joyride through taxation, mass travel, hookers and politics.

Sex, Drugs & Taxation deals with the spectacular historical friendship between two of the most notorious and provocative figures of modern Danish history: the radical right-wing lawyer-turned-politician, Mogens Glistrup, and the “travel king”, millionaire, womanizer and public provocateur, Simon Spies. Story inspired by true events describes still unknown facts – how these two infamous Danish icons became what they did and how they used each other as support as well as opponents in their respective life missions. They show us how life can be lived to the fullest, how to battle for ideas and for new vision of society. Half of Denmark fell in love with them while the other half hated them. They were like nothing the country had ever seen before.

Christoffer Boe is one of the most acclaimed Danish directors who managed to receive many awards and appreciations internationally. There are really high artistic movies in his filmography. During making of Reconstruction (2003, Golden Camera and Prix Regards Jeune from IFF Cannes) he cooperated with Nicolas Bro, alias Mogens Glistrup from Sex, Drugs & Taxations. The role of Simon Spies was then given to Pilou Asbæk who recently starred in impressive drama Hijacking.
