"Extraordinary connection of melancholie and romance. Modern love story."

A chef and a scientist fall in love as an epidemic begins to rob people of their sensory perceptions.

We are used to watching sci-fi movies about global disasters that are of American production and of a certain dramaturgical pattern which, almost as a rule, is dictated by that production. This is a non-American film that approaches the genre from a different angle. It has two intertwining storylines: first, a love story between a young man who is a restaurant chef and a girl from the neighbourhood who is an epidemiologist; second, an oncoming epidemic that makes people the world around lose their sense of smell, then of taste and eventually their hearing. The film also conveys a subtle but important social note as the off voice combined with documentary footage from different parts of the world suggests possible reasons for the global disaster: people’s negligence of the environment and, consequently, of themselves.
